Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. Introduction

TaxTreaties.eu (“TaxTreaties”, “we”, “us”) is an independent informational website operated by Nicholas Ahonen in Sweden. By using our tax treaty checker, articles and other resources (“Services”), you accept these Terms of Use. If you disagree, please stop using the Services.

2. Educational and informational purposes only

All information on TaxTreaties.eu is provided exclusively for general information and educational purposes. It is not tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, financial or investment advice, or any other personalised professional advice.

Nothing on the website is a professional opinion about your individual liabilities or entitlements. Consult a suitably qualified tax adviser, lawyer, accountant or other appropriate professional before making decisions with tax, legal or financial consequences. Use of the site does not establish a client–adviser, attorney–client or fiduciary relationship.

3. Accuracy and changes in law

We endeavour to research official treaty texts, legislation and tax-authority materials and may review records periodically. Nevertheless, we make no guarantee that content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your situation, even when marked as reviewed or verified. Domestic laws, treaties, protocols, multilateral instruments, court decisions, tax authority interpretations and administrative processes can change at any time. Content may contain mistakes, omissions, simplifications or outdated information between reviews. A displayed review date records an editorial activity, not a warranty.

4. Tax treaty checker limitations

Checker outputs are general illustrations, not tax assessments or recommendations. They may omit relevant factors such as treaty residence, beneficial ownership, permanent establishment, anti-abuse tests, taxpayer classification, holding periods, tax wrappers, relief limitations, foreign tax credits, income classification, withholding-agent processes, forms, refund deadlines and other case-specific conditions.

The treaty rate shown may not be the rate withheld automatically, or the final tax payable. Treaty relief may require eligibility, evidence, procedural steps or a later refund. A missing rate means that information is unavailable or unverified, not that taxation is zero. Do not rely on checker results alone for filing, transactions or tax planning.

5. Your responsibility

You are responsible for checking applicable official rules, seeking professional advice when appropriate and complying with filing, payment and reporting obligations in relevant jurisdictions. TaxTreaties does not monitor your personal circumstances or promise to alert you to changes.

6. Availability and liability

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without guarantees regarding accuracy, completeness, uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for losses, penalties, interest, tax assessments, missed deadlines, lost profits or other consequences resulting from reliance on the Services, technical failures or third-party content.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability or statutory rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

7. Third-party links, advertisements and affiliates

Links to authorities or external providers are for convenience and information. We are not responsible for third-party content, security, privacy or availability. Advertising, referrals and affiliate links may generate revenue. Their presence does not constitute personal endorsement or professional advice. See our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.

8. Intellectual property and acceptable use

Original site text, designs, structured materials and other protected content belong to their respective rights holders. You may use them for personal, lawful, educational purposes, and exercise statutory exceptions such as lawful quotation. Do not unlawfully reproduce substantial protected content, interfere with the site, bypass access controls or attempt unauthorised access.

9. Changes and governing law

We may change the Services and these Terms. The updated version and its date will appear here. Swedish law applies, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections and jurisdiction rules applicable to users elsewhere.
