Editorial Policy & Methodology

Last updated: 2 November 2026

1. Mission and independence

TaxTreaties.eu aims to make cross-border taxation and tax treaties more understandable. We publish educational explanations and an indicative tax scenario checker. Editorial conclusions are not for sale; advertising and affiliate compensation do not determine tax rates or treaty interpretations.

2. Sources and hierarchy

We prioritise, where relevant: (1) domestic statutes and authenticated bilateral treaty texts; (2) protocols, amendments and applicable multilateral instruments; (3) official tax-authority publications and administrative guidance; (4) relevant court decisions; (5) international institutional materials including OECD resources; and (6) reputable academic or professional commentary. Secondary sources are checked against primary authorities where practicable.

3. How checker results are assembled

The checker combines residence country, source country and income type with structured domestic tax and treaty information. We seek to distinguish statutory rates, treaty limits, taxing-rights allocation, residence-country treatment, tax relief and practical withholding/refund requirements. Eligibility, special tax regimes, anti-abuse rules and individual circumstances may change the result.

A missing rate means unknown, not zero. We should not show unreviewed information as verified.

4. Research and verification

Our intended editorial process includes identifying official sources, checking applicable dates and exceptions, recording citations and verification dates, reviewing material calculations, and approving content before identifying it as verified. Publication status is distinct from verification status. A review date does not guarantee that a scenario remains correct.

5. Updates

We aim to reassess important scenarios periodically, with an operational target of approximately six months where feasible, and sooner when material legal changes come to our attention. This target is not a guarantee: treaties, domestic legislation, courts and tax authority practices can change between reviews. Outdated or incomplete material may remain visible while reassessment is pending.

6. Corrections

Readers can report inaccuracies, broken official sources or misleading descriptions to nicholas@allseasonsportfolio.eu, preferably with the page URL and source. We aim to investigate substantive reports and update, clarify or remove material where appropriate. Significant corrections may be documented.

7. AI and translations

Software and AI may assist with research, drafting, translation and data organisation. AI output alone is not legal authority and is not a substitute for verifying material facts. Translations may contain mistakes; readers should consult legally authoritative treaty and statutory texts if wording differs.

8. Funding and limitations

The site may earn income from display ads and affiliates, clearly identified where appropriate. See Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.

All content is educational information only, not personalised tax or legal advice. Even reviewed content may be inaccurate or outdated. Consult a qualified professional for decisions affecting your situation.
